Starting a Blog

I've been thinking about starting a blog. Writing my thoughts down seems like a good thing to do, and I hope to share things that someone will find interesting.

Since I'm in the computer science field, I will post about interesting anecdotes or personal projects of mine. I'm not sure about how I will format it. Will I do short posts? Longer, more explanatory essays? I have ideas for both. I do tend to go through a lot of phases though, and this may just be one of them. I suppose time will tell.

On GitHub Copilot's new pricing

GitHub Copilot's new premium model pricing recently went into effect, and it made me realize just how good value their previous offering really was. Last week, I began working as normal. I use Cline in VS Code, and route the API requests through the VS Code LM API. This lets me tap into all of the GitHub Copilot models I have access to through my subscription. Monday went by without a hitch, but Tuesday came, and something odd happened. I started getting errors indicating I had ran out of quota. "Hm, that's weird" I thought, given that I had never seen such a message. After digging around I found the new pricing model , which includes 300 "premium" requests per month. RSS is very useful

How come RSS isn't more popular? It's almost 30 year old technology at this point, and while it is very simple, I believe it serves its purpose perfectly fine — after all, it's called Really Simple Syndication. I recently downloaded  feeeed , a modern RSS reader for iOS devices. It shows all the feeds you're subscribed to in a modern timeline, like that of any modern social network. What's great is that you aren't just limited to blogs and news sites. I am subscribed to a number of blogs — namely Simon Willinson's , which I highly recommend — but I also follow content creators I'm interested in, like Technology Connections on Bluesky. Finding feeds is also very easy with the integrated search function. If you're unsure whether a website has an RSS feed, enter the URL and the app will detect it for you.
